Richard Meeks has joined EvergreenHealth as a compliance officer for the Kirkland-based health care system.
Meeks joins the organization with extensive expertise in risk management and most recently served as the assistant compliance officer for University of Washington Medicine.

In his role with EvergreenHealth, Meeks will plan, organize, direct and coordinate various operations and activities pertaining to risk assessment and compliance, which includes developing, coordinating and administering systematic hospital risk assessment and compliance programs.
Throughout his tenure with University of Washington Medicine, Meeks was the driving force behind the successful implementation of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act privacy regulations in 2003. He spent the subsequent years administering that program, which led to him being named assistant compliance officer in June 2011.
In addition to his role as assistant compliance officer with the University of Washington, Meeks shared his expertise through many applications with the institution, including as chair of the University of Washington Medicine’s Patient Privacy Advisory Committee; as a member of the Privacy Assurance and Systems Security Council; as chair and member of the Health Care Components Work Group; as chair and member of the Clinical Billing Compliance Work Group; as a member of the University of Washington Medicine’s Compliance, Operations, and Finance Council; as a member of the Executive Clinical Leadership Team; and as a member of the Web Initiatives Oversight Committee.
Meeks received his bachelor of arts from the University of Washington in 1994. He is a certified compliance and ethics professional, a certified Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act professional and he holds a certificate from the University of Washington’s Strategic Leadership Program.
