I was at a recent 45th district candidate forum in Kirkland. There was a question about the B&O tax and all candidates said it was unfair and needed to be reformed. Sen. Eric Oemig went as far as stating he hates it. My initial reaction was if it is so unpopular why do we still have it.
When I later did some research, I found out that Senate bill 6143, which included an increase in the B&O tax, came up for a vote, all of the incumbents at the forum, Rep. Springer, Rep. Goodman and Sen. Oemig voted yes.
I am hoping at the next candidates forum, the moderator can ask for an explanation of what appears to be a conflict between what is being said in Kirkland and the votes that were actually cast in Olympia.
