Your editorial regarding Lake Washington School District’s Anti-Bullying Policy was an opportunity for me to share a monumental idea gathered from Vivian Gussin Paley, a recipient of a MacArthur Foundation Award for her pioneering work with young children. Her book “You Can’t Say You Can’t Play” should be required text for every teacher and parent. We need to start educating our kindergarten children about this successful technique long before they enter high school and continue to expose the problem with hard and immediate consequences. Let’s offer the LWSD free hall monitors through the retired workforce who live in our district. This problem needs to end swiftly.
