I am very disappointed that the city has voted to allow the Casino to remain in the Kingsgate area. This is a family neighborhood with two schools and four swimming pool parks. This appears to be a decision made expressly for the purpose of revenue. A little work and imagination could provide something much more wholesome and appropriate to the neighborhood, which would add to the value of the City of Kirkland as a whole.
This is another example of the council’s short sightedness when it comes to city planning and development. You have ruined the skyline by allowing too tall apartments and are trying to destroy the uniqueness of the area by planning big commercial buildings. Now you are undermining the community feeling associated with the family nature of the area by allowing the casino to remain. We will not become the new Bellevue; we will become the newest area to over-urbanize and have no individuality or personality, no true home town feeling.
