In my work, I deal with cases involving drunk driving on a daily basis. The horrific tragedies that could be involved and the lives that could be destroyed are heartbreaking. I was pleased to see that Rep. Roger Goodman is tough on crime and tough on this issue of drunk driving. His interlock-device bill prevents repeat offenders from driving drunk and hurting people again. The sad fact is that people drive, even when their licenses have been revoked. An ignition interlock device prohibits someone from starting their car and driving if it detects alcohol. The car simply will not start.
Thank goodness for this innovative idea and to Roger Goodman for submitting this bill to protect the families of Washington State.
