Ignoring traffic jams is gross neglect | LETTER

City planners have just agreed to a report saying that 40 to 60 bus riders getting off at the South Kirkland Park & Ride every 15 minutes for an hour or two will have no significant impact on the traffic in Kirkland.

Can you believe it? City planners have just agreed to a report saying that 40 to 60 bus riders getting off at the South Kirkland Park & Ride every 15 minutes for an hour or two will have no significant impact on the traffic in Kirkland.

Can’t they see the traffic jams we have now and what the future holds if the increase traffic counts from the South Kirkland Park & Ride are combined with the proposed unlimited developments without density limits. What do they think will happen when their vehicles hit the highways?

To ignore our traffic jams without fixing them is gross neglect. But that’s what Mr. Shields, the Planning Department, and the council is doing. We can do better than that.

Are we to believe Mr. Shields and the concocted report? I don’t think so. Find out for yourself. Call the Planning Department at 425-587-3225, ask for Mr. Shields. If he wants us to believe his observations are better than ours, ask him why.
