The proposed design for Kirkland “Darkplace” gives new meaning to ugly. If ugly was a criterion for attractive architecture, it would win hands down. The buildings are Kremlinisque in their boxiness, out of scale, too close together with no step-backs and no multiplex theater! What more could the citizens of Kirkland want? The Kirkland City Council needs to change the zoning regulations to preclude the further canyonizing of Kirkland. The people deserve a public hearing. The council should do what’s right for the city.
