Doreen Marchione will be an excellent member of Kirkland City Council but she needs our support to get there.
Doreen’s commitment to our community is demonstrated by the many organizations she has helped lead. From being president of the Kirkland Performance Center Board to serving on state and local transportation planning organizations, to being part of a Gates Foundation initiative focusing on families, she has a real track record of effectiveness.
But anyone not moved solely by an impressive record of community accomplishments and mastery of complex issues should know the best part of Doreen”s background, and why I am so strong in my belief that Kirkland needs her on the council. Doreen has a deep empathy for the people in our society who struggle most. As president of Hopelink and one of the founders of the Economic Opportunity Institute she has spent countless hours making good on a commitment to contribute where help is needed most dearly.
I have seen the results of Doreen’s inclusive style of leadership, her patience, her empathy and her dedication. She will help bring neighborhoods and individuals together and support us all in our efforts to see Kirkland be the best it can be.
So as a resident of Kirkland for over 35 years, as a parent in a Kirkland family, and as a friend of Doreen’s, I want to urge anyone reading to vote for Doreen Marchione this fall.
