Mayor has reduced quality of life in Kirkland | LETTER

Perhaps it’s time to acknowledge who the good guys/gals are on the council. Their actions over the past eight years have inspired this quote: If you think there is some good in everybody, you obviously haven’t met “everybody.” Meet Mayor McBride.

Perhaps it’s time to acknowledge who the good guys/gals are on the council. Their actions over the past eight years have inspired this quote: If you think there is some good in everybody, you obviously haven’t met “everybody.” Meet Mayor McBride.

It’s particularly true of politicians. Mayor McBride has done more to reduce our quality of life in Kirkland than almost all of the previous mayors. She inspired Potala to apply for their project with uncontrolled and unlimited densities by giving the Planning Department “guidance” of future development.

The latest proposed and unpopular watercraft ordinance I believe was inspired by former Councilwoman Nona Ganz. I believe she promoted the idea of blocking boats, including kayaks and canoes that would possibly upset the pristine environment of Juanita Park.

When she was on the council, she invited fellow council members to kayak/canoe through the naturalistic and undisturbed park south of Yarrow Bay, thereby interrupting the natural environment. Why should kayaking and canoeing in Juanita Park be any different than what she promoted in Yarrow Bay? Was she a hypocrite or not?

I look for good from our council. So far, it’s hard to find. Promoting traffic jams, adopting regulations that infringe on our freedoms, treating neighborhoods differently and ignoring residents’ desires, and raising taxes at a rate three times faster than our cost-of-living allowance does not bode well in my book.
