Kudos to Mr. Todd Myers for bringing common sense to the misguided cause du jour movement to ban plastic bags. And congratulations to the Kirkland Reporter for providing a reality check to your readers. Decisions whether to ban a widely accepted and, based on scientific research, environmentally preferable product with a variety of environmentally friendly uses, should be based on scientific research, not on unsupported speculation, emotion and anecdotal events.

I prefer plastic bags over other available options and use them in an environmentally-friendly way by using them for trash bags and storing them in the event that the misguided advocates prevail and force me to provide my own plastic bags.
