On Feb. 5 the Kirkland City Council will continue their consideration of a petition signed by more than 350 Kirkland residents asking that they pass a local resolution
Whenever one comments about the homosexual lifestyle, the pejorative responses I received are not unusual.
Roger Lowe made several points accompanied by erroneous conclusions in a recent letter about the Potala Village project.
The City of Kirkland Planning director recently approved the Potala Village shoreline permit for 143 units and fewer parking spaces. So this is the shoreline permit and not the building permit.
What got us into the Potala mess was the arrogance of the Planning director trying to satisfy the demands of Mayor McBride.
The developer filed a new claim on Jan. 10 in King County Superior Court.
Mayor McBride and council members, I have followed the Potola Village story in the Kirkland Reporter and now the Seattle Times.
As principal of John Muir Elementary, and on behalf of our school community, I want to send a sincere thank you to everyone who donated their time and resources to provide food boxes to so many of our families here on Dec. 17.
Thank you to Bill LaMarche for his wonderful columns about volunteer opportunities! I was disappointed to discover that Medical Teams International is a christian organization whose mission is “To demonstrate the love of Christ to people affected by disaster, conflict and poverty around the world.” I would prefer to see non-religious opportunities profiled.
I recently was in Bellingham. Their newspaper, the Bellingham Herald has a section entitled “Whatcom County Jail Report” in which they publish incidents and names.
There are a few points I wanted to share regarding Mr. Bell’s suggestion in the Reporter that gay people should “prove” they do not have AIDS to adopt:

I was in the drive-through lane of the Totem Lake Taco Time the evening of Dec. 21, and when I handed money to the young man at the window to pay for my meal he said that the lady in the car ahead had already paid for it and had asked him to wish me, “Merry Christmas!”
I can’t say enough about the incredible amount of outreach we experienced from the community during the recent holiday party and toy drive for Sibling House.
Now that the State of Washington (i.e. King County) has voted to approve gay marriage, it is imperative that the Legislature enact laws to protect children adopted into such unions.
The Woodlands Park Tot Lot needs your support as it is not part of the recently passed levy. The small play area near Mark Twain Elementary School, funded by city bond funds in 1986, has now been removed for safety reasons due to deterioration.
Sunday morning I was on my way to work at Bellevue Square. I went up State Street to 68th, where I hit the beginnings of a major road block: the 12ks of Christmas Holiday Run.
The proposed Lake Street Place development, the 5-story monolithic building in the heart of downtown Kirkland, hard against its neighbors to the north and east,
Right now, we are not Democrats, Republicans or Independents. We are simply “Americans,”
