Mr. Campbell’s recommendation that the City of Kirkland explore further options for the “control” piece of animal services in Kirkland is similar to the direction that I received from Kirkland City Council at their March 20 meeting.
The Bridle Trails Ace Hardware store has really stepped up to support our local military/veterans.
Today I went for a walk in the beautiful afternoon warmth we experienced. Strolled down from the newly annexed North Juanita neighborhood.
Why, if it wasn’t for the “old people’s lane” I don’t think my wife and I would go anywhere.
The man in the green truck comes by our place every Thursday morning at the Springtree Condominiums by Juanita Village.
I was very disturbed and disappointed to read the recent commentary written by Jeff E. Jared, especially given that he stated that he originally wrote a column in support of legalizing gay marriage.
How exciting it is to see that bigotry is alive and well. Mr. Jared’s proposal (Gay Marriage, April 6) that we overturn civil rights laws and roll the clock back a few decades to allow for unbridled discrimination is brilliant and will surely be welcomed by enlightened citizens.
I am more than 80 years old, therefore I have nothing to lose. Here are my offerings:
Further options should be explored prior to the City of Kirkland taking over the task of animal control as proposed by Lorrie McKay.
Thanks to Bernie Krane and to the Reporter for the new “Construction Corner.”
Your story about Stu Clarke in the Kirkland Reporter dated Aug. 8, 2011 by Rachel Harris caught my eye when I was searching the internet for Stu Clarke.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Totem Lake QFC for supporting us in a food drive on Saturday for Pantry Packs. QFC and its staff were gracious, helpful and accommodating.
Developers are property rights advocates. But what if their “rights” infringe on the rights of neighbors? Whose rights come first? If you live next to commercial zones in the City of Kirkland, your rights no longer count.
I recently attended a Town Hall meeting in Kirkland in support of the bill that was signed legalizing same-sex marriage. Governor Gregoire signed the bill into law on Feb. 13, but a referendum was immediately filed to try and overturn it.
I am hearing that the Senate budget has proposed eliminating the state Food Assistance Program. The House has proposed maintaining the program, but suggests cutting the funding in half.
I am a Houghton community member, and while I’m happy that Houghton as a community will remain as such with a voice, I am somewhat dismayed by Rep. Larry Springer’s single-minded attitude to do away with our rights as property owners and community members.
In my opinion, the Kirkland City Council is being somewhat disingenuous in suggesting the purpose of extending paid parking in city-managed parking lots is to reduce confusion.
Perhaps it’s time to acknowledge who the good guys/gals are on the council. Their actions over the past eight years have inspired this quote: If you think there is some good in everybody, you obviously haven’t met “everybody.” Meet Mayor McBride.
Thank you for helping to keep Kirkland the great community that we are.
I appreciate and respect Lyle Dillon’s point of view regarding my legislation to end state Municipal Corporations, namely the Bellevue and Houghton Community Councils. I shared my views with Lyle in an email response to him earlier this week.
