A letter to the council: I am shocked to see such awful looking structures being proposed in our beautiful and lovely Kirkland at Parkplace. Progress happens, but certainly not in this light.
In our 21-plus years as residents and homeowners in Kirkland we are really hoping someone will come to their senses and see that this will turn folks away from this great little city, not encourage them to come here. We will lose so much of the great appeal that Kirkland has always had with its waterfront, galleries, restaurants, etc. Even now, it has changed during the past 21 years but at least it still has a sweetness and comfort to it.
Change is good if the plan is good, but this is not a good plan. The Parkplace project looks like an industrial park and that will be just an awful sight.
Thanks for your time, but please think this over and come up with a better solution to progress. We don’t need to be financially supporting the developers, contractors and engineers that would make money from this. We need to support the families of Kirkland that have lived here, loved here and raised families here for many years. We don’t want “our” Kirkland to look like Bellevue, Seattle, and all other areas that have gone over the top. This must be stopped now!
