In response to Andrew Villeneuve’s column, I suggest he take a refresher in American history. The U.S.A is not a Democracy, it is a Republic (remember your pledge of allegiance)? In a Democracy, majority rules; in a Republic, the minority’s rights and say are as important as, if not more important than the majority. The Republican lawmakers in both our state and in D.C. are doing what their constituents are asking them to. Obviously you don’t agree with this, based on your liberal agenda, but you cannot fault them for what their voters have asked them to do. I can only imagine that your view would be completely different if the Republicans were in control and the Democrats were in the minority.
