Sen. Andy Hill has failed on transportation | Letter

Far too often our state is mired in traffic. This is in-large part because the state Senate failed to pass a transportation budget to improve our roads and create more jobs. State Sen. Andy Hill (R-45, Redmond) failed to show strong leadership when he refused to help pass a transportation package both in 2013 and earlier this year. The transportation budget would complete the SR 520 rebuild from I-405 to I-5. It would have eliminated bottlenecks from our ports and reduced I-405 congestion.

As one of Mr. Hill’s constituents, I was appalled to see him refusing to work on behalf of the people he represents. I have met his challenger, Matt Isenhower, and know he is ready to work across the aisle in the state Senate to pass this important legislation. From my conversations with him, I know Mr. Isenhower supports a balanced plan that makes sure the Eastside has good roads, good transit options and good bike and pedestrian options. Mr. Hill had his chance to pass a transportation package much like the one Mr. Isenhower supports, but Mr. Hill failed to do so. I will be supporting Matt Isenhower for state Senate on Nov. 4 because I want a representative who will work to help get the Eastside moving again.
