I write in support of Chuck Pilcher’s candidacy for the Evergreen Hospital Board. Chuck is a retired Emergency Room doctor with the enthusiasm and commitment of a soccer mom when it comes to community service. His 35-year career at Evergreen involved much more than treating thousands of patients. It included a significant role in the recent building expansion, training emergency care providers, as well as other projects. Nevertheless, he still found time to get involved in the community; serving on neighborhood committees and a non-profit corporate board, managing a major neighborhood project and, several times leading medical teams to provide care to the less fortunate in third world countries.
Hospital and healthcare providers are entering a new world of challenge and opportunity. Technological innovation with all its benefits is accelerating while efforts to manage costs and extend health care coverage are being debated. Managing costs, interfacing with various levels of government and coverage providers while providing quality care to all segments of the community are just a few of the issues that hospitals will need to address. In this environment we need to attract to public service those with the expertise, enthusiasm and commitment to make a difference.
I think Chuck Pilcher matches that profile and will be a valuable addition to the Evergreen Hospital Board. Chuck is a good friend and neighbor and I am grateful that he is willing to take on this responsibility.
