Through the years, Mr. Style has ranted about the failings of Deputy Mayor Joan McBride. Readers should take his rants with a grain of salt. Remember that McBride very severely trounced Style in two city council races. Beyond that, Mr. Style is off base in his castigation of McBride because of her support for regional measures.
Style is against the regional approach to solving sewage problems, flood control problems, and transportation issues. When I moved to Kirkland (1968) sewage from cities around Lake Washington was dumped, untreated, into the lake. It was almost impossible to take a bus to Seattle or Bellevue. The regional approach to solve these problems through Forward Thrust and Metro worked. None of the individual towns and cities could have solved these problems themselves. I don’t know about Mr. Style, but I take the bus to the airport, and beginning this December I’ll be taking the light rail.
Thank goodness for those of our council members with the energy and initiative to use regional resources to solve regional problems!
