Trash throughout Kirkland parks needs an Earth Day clean-up | LETTER

Today I went for a walk in the beautiful afternoon warmth we experienced. Strolled down from the newly annexed North Juanita neighborhood.

First stop was the newly refurbished Juanita Beach Park. Looks nice and I am sure once the spring blooms turn to full foliage it will be a beautiful refuge; as it is, I liked what I saw.

I continued over to Juanita Bay Park. Watched the turtles for a while and then took a journey toward town along the back roads. Throughout my trip I kept noticing trash everywhere I went. Nothing exceptionally bad aside from the half-sheet or less of plywood out along the pier at Juanita beach. Looks like it’s been there a while.

However, on my way back down the Old Market Street Trail I decided to walk along the boardwalk on the right side away from the bay. Here is where I took wonderful photos of the incredible wildlife that is so abundant back here. Is there a reason there is so much of this here?

I haven’t done this walk in a few years. It wasn’t like this back then. There was some actual wildlife back here as well.

Personally, I don’t think the wildlife approves of this behavior. Maybe you can get something going with the Parks Department to organize a clean up day?
