Several local high school musicians toured Europe this summer, performing choral and band arrangements for foreign audiences in seven countries.
Selected by band and music teachers across the state, students from Lake Washington and Juanita High Schools travelled for over two weeks as part of the “Washington Ambassadors of Music” program. The biennial program took place this summer on July 9 to July 24 and 212 students joined the tour.
Representing Lake Washington High School, choral singers Tess Roche, Madison Sefton, Hayley Young, Megan Youngers and flutist Sydney Woolf made the trip. Juanita High School’s flutist Julia Nixon, clarinetist Matt Connell and tubist John Davis also joined the tour.
The tour’s performances were held in parks and churches in England, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Liechtenstein and Germany. Highlights included a performances in St. Mark’s Cathedral in Venice, Italy, and Wesley’s Chapel in London, England.
