If you have ever wanted to create a hot compost pile, set up a worm bin or construct a food digester using material from your own yard, this workshop is for you.

Seattle Tilth, the Seattle-based organization devoted to growing local, is holding a workshop Sept. 26 to teach residents how to recycle and compost more efficiently. The workshop runs from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the city of Kirkland Maintenance Center, 915 Eighth St.

A master recycler composter will be present to answer composting and recycling questions.

Each attendee who completes the workshop will receive a free outdoor recycler compost bin manufactured by Beaver State Plastics, courtesy of the city of Kirkland and the Washington State Department of Ecology. Attendees are encouraged to ensure they have the capacity to transport their free compost bins home after the workshop. The compost bins are 36 inches wide and 36 inches tall.
