The Kirkland Arts Center is featuring a new exhibit, “Changes,” that will run through Nov. 19.
Curated by Jason Wood, the artists include Matt Browning, Drew Daly, Brendan Jansen, Sean M. Johnson, and Shawn Patrick Landis.
Daly brings forward the potential of an object through simple gestures of addition, subtraction, and combining. Browning makes apparent the ritualistic qualities of everyday games and events through the manipulation of the objects we use for these events. Jansen uses photographic processes to break apart presupposed ideas of objectivity and normal interpretation. Johnson creates tension through a literal and metaphoric balance of objects that hold personal meaning. Landis keeps only the symbol of an object while changing its material makeup and surroundings in order to explore rarely questioned ideas of custom and tradition.
The Kirkland Arts Center is located at 620 Market Street. For information, call 425-822-7161 or visit Kirkland Arts.
