Once again, Kamiakin Junior High will be well-represented in performances for the Washington Music Educators Association’s conference this winter.
Every year, the WMEA selects the state’s top musicians to rehearse and perform together at a gala concert with nationally-known conductors.
This February’s Gala concerts will be held in Yakima and will feature both Junior All-State groups for 7th and 8th graders and All-State groups for high school students.
Kamiakin’s Junior All-State musicians are: Bridget Dahlman-Oeth, flute; Tom Mikkelson, alto sax; Rebecca Liu, clarinet; Izzy Jo, trumpet; Joel Frostad, violin and Maxine Beeman, tuba.
Because of the Lake Washington School District’s reconfiguration to 6-8 middle schools and 9-12 high schools, the following All-State musicians are the school’s last 9th grade entries into the high school All-State: Ben Hayward, tuba; Nick Teoh, bassoon; Leslie Fisher, flute; and Chris Potter, string bass.
