Commuters should expect traffic delays due to the Holiday Tree Lighting to be held on Dec. 7.

Commuters should expect traffic delays due to the Holiday Tree Lighting to be held on Dec. 7. The following roads will be closed and detours will be in place from 2-9 p.m.: Lake Street South between Central Way and Second Ave. S.; Kirkland Avenue between City Dock and Main Street; and Park Lane from Lake Street South to Main Street.

The annual event will include the tree lighting, a visit from Santa, music, gingerbread house competition and other holiday activities. Event goers are encouraged to walk, bike or carpool, and plan for parking in advance. For public parking, including the Kirkland Municipal Garage, go to www.kirklandwa.gov/parking.
