Student work from Rose Hill Elementary artists will be on display at Kirkland Library during the month of December.

These works represent projects funded by a 2008-2009 Classroom Enrichment Grant from the Lake Washington Schools Foundation to provide a series of art lessons to all 4tth-6th graders at Rose Hill.

Led by Christopher Banks, paraeducator and artist, each lesson presents the work of an important artist with an emphasis on recognizing and understanding the basic elements of their art: line, color, shape, texture, etc., as well as technique and media. Students were then invited to create their own interpretations in that style, using similar technique and quality artist materials. The artworks on display include those by:

Ms. Jarta’s 4th Grade — Andy Warhol-themed, Pop Art hand-stenciled “Print” paintings, using primary and neon tempera colors on white tag board

Ms. McKinney’s 6th Grade — Marc Chagall-themed, Symbolic paintings using watercolor and charcoal on rag paper.
