The Kirkland Music Academy has announced its Spring 2016 production of Oliver!, the Lionel Bart musical of adventure, perseverance, and hope fulfilled.

Evening performances will be held starting at 7 p.m. on April 29-30 and May 6-7. Matinees will be held at 2 p.m. on May 1 and May 7.

Based on Charles Dickens’ classic novel, Oliver Twist, the story follows a 19th century workhouse orphan as he escapes his life of servitude and makes his way to London. There he is befriended by a wily receiver of stolen property, his gang of young pick-pockets, and several others—all of whom have their own plans for young Oliver.

From the opening with “Food, Glorious Food,” through memorable songs including, “Who Will Buy?,” “Consider Yourself,” and “I’m Reviewing the Situation,” this is a spring treat Kirkland families won’t want to miss.

The cast consists of 25 talented members of the Kirkland and local community. Musical direction is by Sue Heale, the owner and founder of Kirkland Musical Academy, with Choreography by Taylor Parish, and Lambros Lambrou the featured Pianist. The musically talented Joshua Sibley plays Fagin, and newcomer Allison Willner lends her stunning voice to the role of Nancy.

Oliver! is directed by Kathryn Fields, a Bellevue attorney and Kirkland resident, who is active in local musical theater and small film productions. In December, Fields was the Art Director and Costume Designer for Kirkland Musical Academy’s production of Scrooge! which enjoyed sell-out performances.

Oliver! is the fifth community musical produced by Kirkland Music Academy.

Tickets for Oliver! are $10 and available the Brown Paper Tickets or at the door.

Kirkland Music Academy is located at 511 Sixth Street So., Kirkland, WA 98033
