Kirkland Performance Center announces partnerships to host Olate Dogs, Twisted Flicks

Kirkland Performance Center officials have announced two new community partnerships.

Kirkland Performance Center officials have announced two new community partnerships.

The KPC is partnering with the Kirkland Chamber of Commerce to present Olate Dogs at 7:30 p.m. on May 8. KPC is also partnering with Jet City Improv to present their Twisted Flicks series for the first time on the Eastside, at 8 p.m. on May 2 with Captain America (1990) and on June 6 with Godzilla (1954).

“By partnering with these organizations, we are showing our commitment to local organizations and local performances,” said Interim Executive Director Jeff Lockhart. “Our patrons have told us that they want to see what professional members of our community are creating and producing. We’re adding high-value shows that Kirkland patrons don’t normally get in their own backyard.”

This is the first time Olate Dogs has ever been to the greater Seattle area, after winning America’s Got Talent in 2012. Olate Dogs is a high-energy, fast-paced theatrical act featuring rescue dogs that can jump rope, ride scooters, balance on wheels and even do back flips. They will also be performing at the Kirkland Chamber’s annual auction at 6 p.m. on May 9 at the KPC, and at a community outreach event at Kirkland’s Marina Park at 10 a.m. on May 10 where dogs are also welcome. Youth tickets $15 and adult tickets $25 for Olate Dogs.

Jet City Improv’s Twisted Flicks merges improv comedy with classic movies for a hilarious cinematic experience like none other. As the film plays, the improvisers create all new dialog for the characters, sound effects and live music – using the suggestions provided by the audience. Twisted Flicks is now in its 15th year, and this is the first time it will be brought to the Eastside. Tickets for the Twisted Flicks are $15.

Jet City Improv and Kirkland Chamber of Commerce join a long list of quality community arts partners at KPC: Studio East, Lyric Light Opera, Washington Wind Symphony, Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra, Master Chorus Eastside and The Keith Highlanders Pipe Band.

Tickets are available online at www.kpcenter.org, over the phone at 425-893-9900, or at the Box Office from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and until curtain on show days. The Box Office is located at 350 Kirkland Ave. in downtown Kirkland.
