The 36th annual Kirkland Summer Concert Series will kick off Tuesday, July 9 at a new location.
Previously at Marina Park, the children’s concerts will take place every Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Juanita Beach Park.
“We think it will be a lot more convenient for parents with their strollers because parking is right there at the beach and afterwards there’s the playground if they want to stay there as well,” said Julie Metteer, an organizer of the concert series.
Children may enjoy Cowboy Buck and Elizabeth’s “high-energy, interactive musical comedy, dance, sing-along and ventriloquism” as they kick off the first children’s concert.
Evening concerts for adults will continue to be at Marina Park and will commence Thursday, July 11 with a performance by Tor Dietrichson Blues Machine.
Although the events have received more than 25 sponsors, volunteers are still needed for setting up informational tables and helping out. The children’s concerts need volunteers at Juanita Beach Park on Tuesday mornings from 8-9 a.m. and from 10-11 a.m. And the evening concerts need volunteers at Marina Park from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday evenings. You don’t have to commit to the full three hours. For those interested, email KirklandSummerConcerts@gmail.com.
The children’s concerts will be every Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. July 9 through Aug. 20 at Juanita Beach Park and the evening concerts will be every Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m. July 11-Aug. 22 at Marina Park.
