The Kirkland Wednesday Market is hoping to “See you at the market!” as they kick-off the 2009 season on May 6 at 2 p.m. at their new location in Marina Park in downtown Kirkland.
Opening festivities include the Lake Washington High school Choir Lyrica singing the National Anthem and special guests from Bright Horizons Day Care will be on hand to sing and act as official ribbon cutters. Mayor Jim Lauinger, who will read for “Sprouts Story Time” at 3 p.m., is set to speak along with a representative from King County Councilmember Jane Hague’s office.
Other activities include “Plant-a-seed” fun for all ages in the afternoon.
The farmer’s market is one of two operating in Kirkland – the other is on Fridays at Juanita Beach Park, beginning Fridays, May 29 and running from 3 to 7 p.m.
The Kirkland Wednesday Market will feature over 35 different family owned farms this year – offering up a bounty of produce, flowers, beef, pork, lamb, salmon, eggs, honey, hazelnuts, roses, potted herbs and vegetable starts. All vendors will return from last year, including several new stands, including Los Agave Traditional Mexican, Lake Street Catering dressings, Four Seasons Fruit Vinegars, Trevani Truffles, Giggling Greek Crepes, Holy Smoke Salmon Sandwiches and Veraci Pizza made in a wood burning oven.
The market is also seeking volunteers. For more information, visit the market’s Website or email info@kirklandwednesdaymarket.org
