Kittens Chance and Hope are both so full of life! They make every moment of every day fun. Their personalities and disposition can be summed up in one word – sunny! Chance is a male brown tabby with a great big plume tail. Hope is a female soft gray dilute torbie. These kittens are so unbelievably downy soft – so nice to pet and snuggle with. Both are very unusual looking for several reasons.
Chance and Hope (born July 9, 2009) are siblings who came to Meow Cat Rescue in Kirkland as tiny, thin and very fragile 4-week old kittens last August. Additionally, these poor babies were born with a condition called eyelid agenesis. In this condition, kittens are born with variable amounts of the upper eyelids missing. In Chance and Hope’s case, they were missing the outer 50 percent of each upper eyelid margin. Each has had two surgeries performed to create smooth, hairless skin edges so that no hairs are rubbing on the corneas. The surgeries were a success! A watchful eye should be kept on both of these kittens’ eyes and a yearly exam is imperative. Their eye surgeon would like to see them again in July, when they turn one. They will also need artificial tears to keep their eyes lubricated.
Chance and Hope are otherwise happy, healthy and energetic kittens who love nothing more than playing and snuggling. Both have been spayed/neutered, tested for FeLV/FIV, received a series of vaccines and dewormings and are microchipped. For more information, visit www.meowcatrescue.org or call 425-822-6369.
