Kirkland resident Edgar Sandoval Jr. has bold ambitions in the entertainment industry.
He doesn’t limit himself to one field, pursuing his options in music, modeling, acting and filmmaking.
“I am making my passions come to life,” he said.
Before he moved to the Seattle area and became a student at Northwest University, Sandoval took a gap year after high school to live in Los Angeles and see what opportunities opened up for him.
While there, he was able to meet with music labels, go on casting calls, do some modeling work and explore the entertainment industry. Sandoval was also able to attend the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards and the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), which he called “two of the best experiences of my life.”
After living in L.A. for a year, Sandoval joined his family, who were relocating from Cincinnati to Seattle, and he began to look into colleges in the area.
“The gap year was fun and I learned a lot, but I wanted to pursue my education,” he said.
He settled on Kirkland’s Northwest University, where he is now a junior pursuing a business degree with a focus on the music industry.
He has also continued to pursue his career as an entertainer, and he’s having the most success with modeling and music. Last year, he appeared in a Motorola commercial, which was filmed in Kirkland, and he released an EP, “Guardian Angel.”
This year, he is gearing up for the April 6 release of a new single, “No Matter Where We Are,” which he collaborated on with Bloom &Bridge, a DJ/producer duo from The Netherlands.
Sandoval is grateful for every opportunity he’s had in the entertainment business, but he is also dedicated to pursuing his education.
“A degree is a good thing to have under your belt,” he said, adding he plans to return to L.A. to pursue his career after he graduates in 2018.
