Preparing for the ‘Spelling Bee’ at Kirkland’s Lake Washington High School

The 25th annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is recommended for theatergoers 13 and over. Performances are March 17,18 at 7 p.m. and March 19 at 2 and 7 p.m. All tickets are $8. Performances will be held in the LWHS gym,at 12033 N.E. 80th Street, Kirkland.

The 25th annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is coming to town. Lake Washington High School proudly presents this hilarious and hip musical comedy.

Set in a school gymnasium, Spelling Bee takes look at the pressures of growing up through the eyes of quirky yet lovable characters competing for the title of spelling bee champ. Spelling Bee follows six young people in the throes of puberty, who are overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, as they learn that winning isn’t everything and that losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser. At each performance, four audience volunteers are selected and invited on stage to participate in the Bee, making each performance unique.
