Saturday Night Live actor-comedian Kevin Nealon will entertain comedy fans at Laughs Comedy Spot in Kirkland, March 20 and 21.

Nealon began performing as a stand-up comedian in the late ’70s while working as a bartender at the Hollywood’s Improv. He soon began making appearances on television commercials and was asked to appear on late night talk shows.

In 1986, Nealon’s popularity was elevated after joining the “Not Ready for Primetime Players” on Saturday Night Live. He quickly became one of the most popular comedians on the show with his likeable, smirky persona and memorable character creations including: The Subliminal Man, Hans and Franz, and anchoring Weekend Update. As a cast member of Saturday Night Live from 1986 through 1995, Nealon is second only to Tim Meadows in holding the record for longest-running cast member to appear in consecutive seasons in the show’s long-running existence.

While still appearing on SNL, Nealon appeared in an array of films, most made with fellow SNL cast members. In 1987, he made his film debut in the romantic comedy, “Roxanne,” with actor Steve Martin. He also starred with Adam Sandler in “Happy Gilmore,” “The Wedding Singer,” “Little Nicky,” “Joe Dirt” with David Spade; “Anger Management” with Jack Nicholson; and “Daddy Day Care” and “Grandma’s Boy” with Eddie Murphy.

Nealon’s most recent films include Steve Carell’s, “Get Smart,” and Adam Sandler’s, “You Don’t Mess With The Zohan.” In July of 2009, Nealon will also star in Twentieth Century Fox’s, “They Came From Upstairs.”

In addition to his film appearances, Nealon has appeared in a variety of TV shows. He had a recurring television role on the 2002-06 CBS comedy “Still Standing” playing Ted Halverson, the Millers’ competitive and religious neighbor. He also appeared as a patient in a mental institution on the first season of “Monk.”

Nealon’s most recent television role is as a supporting actor on the Golden Globe nominated Showtime series, “Weeds.” His character, Doug Wilson, is the accountant to Nancy Botwin, a formidable marijuana queen-pin played by Mary-Louise Parker. Nealon’s character’s inability to filter his thoughts before speaking frequently lands him in trouble.
