The following events will happen at Parkplace Books in Kirkland:

Tuesday, June 25, 7 p.m.: Author appearance by Sally Ooms, author of “Finding Home: How Americans Prevail.” The author will discuss and sign copies of her new book about people who have come dislodged from their center, the place they call home, and about how they have righted themselves.

Everyday Americans elaborate on how they have solved problems our society hands us on a daily basis. Included are the voices of vets, foster kids, single moms and laid-off workers, retirees and business owners. These people are doing more than just coping. They are innovators in their own lives.

Tuesday, June 25, 6:30 p.m.: Reading Circle will meet early at 6:30 p.m. to select the next six months of book titles. At 7 p.m. the group will discuss “Tortoise & the Hare” by Elizabeth Jenkins. Open to all.

Wednesday, June 26, 7 p.m.: Ed Harris, author of “Fifty Shades of Schwarz,” will discuss and sign copies of his hilarious parody about trying to find love and romance in a world of modern technology and fast dating. We meet Maya Stein, a 29-year-old graduate of Brandeis University who lives in Brooklyn and works for an Internet marketing firm in Manhattan. She is a confident young woman who has been around and who spends her free time (and her not-so free time) cruising the web.

Sunday, June 30, 3 p.m.: Knit Too Readers will discuss “End of Your Life Book Club” by Will Schwalbe. Open to all.
