4Culture, King County's Cultural Services Agency, has announced its 2014 deadlines for grant programs in the fields of arts, heritage and historic preservation.

4Culture, King County’s Cultural Services Agency, has announced its 2014 deadlines for grant programs in the fields of arts, heritage and historic preservation.

The 2014 funding opportunities are listed on 4Culture’s funding calendar at www.4culture.org/calendar. Guidelines and the online application are available six weeks before each deadline. Current funding opportunities are always listed at www.4culture.org/apply.

These programs are made possible by funding provided to 4Culture through King County’s Lodging Tax and are designed to develop and maintain the cultural resources, historic perspective and unique character of King County.

All applications will be evaluated through a peer panel review process. King County-based administrators, practitioners, specialists and community representatives in the applicable field assess applications based on a set of published criteria. Panel recommendations are submitted to the 4Culture Board for final approval.

Upcoming 2014 Application Deadlines:

HERITAGE PROJECTS – Feb. 26 at 5 p.m

.Open to individuals and organizations for support of innovative proposals to document and interpret the history of King County. Awards range from $1,500 to $10,000.

PRESERVATION SPECIAL PROJECTS – Feb. 26 at  5 p.m.

Open to individuals, organizations and public agencies that have projects that highlight historic places in innovative ways. The program offers funding for neighborhood survey/inventory, landmark registration, project planning and more. Capital improvement or “bricks-and-mortar projects are not eligible through this program but are eligible through 4Culture’s Landmarks Capital program. Awards range from $3,000 to $10,000.

ART PROJECTS – March 5 at 5 p.m.

Art Projects provides critically needed funds to King County-based artists and art groups of all disciplines to plan, create and present their work. Awards range from $1,500 to $7,500.

OPEN 4CULTURE

4Culture has launched a new grant program without a deadline. Open 4Culture offers small awards (up to $1,500) for projects for King County individuals and groups who have not received funding from 4Culture before and are new to applying for grants. The intent of this program is to support first-time applicants to 4Culture. Projects proposed for Open 4Culture may not be submitted to the programs listed above. Applications must be submitted at least six weeks before the project’s public event or presentation.
