Three injured as Kirkland teen drives wrong way on I-405
A 17-year-old Kirkland youth drove the wrong way onto northbound I-405 just after midnight Aug. 8, causing a five-car collision.
The girl entered the freeway southbound in the northbound lanes and struck a car driven by Karen L. Devery, 43, of Bothell.
A third vehicle, driven by Tek Menghong, 69 of Lynnwood, then struck Devery’s car. A fourth vehicle, driven by Troy D. Holton, 41, of Arlington, also struck Devery’s car. Finally, a fifth car, driven by Adam J. Inthavongsy, 21, of Startup, struck Devery’s car.
The 17-year-old juvenile was injured and taken to Evergreen Hospital and then booked into the King County Juvenile facility. Her 1996 Toyota Corolla was totaled.
Devery was transported to Harborview Medical Center. Her 1995 BMW 325 also was totaled. Menghong was injured and transported to Evergreen Hospital. His 1990 Honda Accord was totaled.
Holton was not injured. His 1996 Lincoln Towncar sustained $1,000 in damage. Inthavongsy also was not injured. His 2001 Audi A4 sustained $1,000 in damage.
