Animal disaster emergency preparedness training coming to Kirkland

The Kirkland Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program, together with WASART (the Washington State Animal Response Team), will host a presentation on animal disaster emergency preparedness.

The Kirkland Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program, together with WASART (the Washington State Animal Response Team), will host a presentation on animal disaster emergency preparedness.

The presentation will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at Fire Station 26, 9930 124th Ave. NE, Kirkland.

Registration costs $5 and the deadline is Oct. 16.

Topics covered include what supplies and considerations you will need in order to care for your animals in the aftermath of a disaster, how to cope with loose animals you encounter in your neighborhood, how to deal with an angry/aggressive dog and a frightened one, what to do if you encounter livestock and how animal shelters are set up and operated.
