The 13th annual Kirkland Polar Bear Plunge will take place at 1 p.m. on New Year’s Day at Kirkland’s Marina Park. The event is not sanctioned or sponsored by the city of Kirkland and is loosely organized.
The even is free to the public but “organizers” stress that those who take part do so at their own risk.
There will be a prize for the best costume and one “plunger” will win an “I survived the Kirkland Polar Bear Plunge” mug.
Participants are urged to bring their own towel and dry clothes, along with a friend and a costume to wear.
