The Greater Kirkland Citizen Corps Council is seeking applicants for the twice yearly Christina E. Brugman Grants. The grant is open to groups, non-profits, or individuals and the deadline for submission is April 27.

The Christina E. Brugman Grant funds projects benefiting the City of Kirkland emergency preparedness efforts. Applicants must show how their projects support the Greater Kirkland Citizen Corps Council’s mission “to create a resilient community by helping to coordinate the preparedness efforts of local leaders, community groups, citizen volunteers and the Kirkland Office of Emergency Management in responding to disasters of all kinds by harnessing the power of involved residents.”

This grant is named in honor of Kirkland resident Christina Brugman in appreciation for her untiring devotion to promoting emergency preparedness in the City of Kirkland. Awards will be announced on May 18, with a maximum award amount of $1,500.

“We are thrilled the City of Kirkland can recognize the dedication and hard work of residents in the area of public safety and emergency preparedness,” said council member Penny Sweet, chair of the council’s Public Safety Committee. “Christina Brugman has dedicated many hours of service to helping our City prepare, and this is a wonderful way to honor her while advancing efforts to protect the community.”
