One of two brothers being sought by law enforcement for the murder of an Arlington couple in April has been arrested.

Tony Clyde Reed, 49, turned himself in to the US Marshals Service Monday and was booked into San Diego County jail after a month on the run with his brother, John Blaine Reed, according to a press release from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

The brothers were suspected of murdering Patrick Shunn, 45, and his wife Monique Patenaude, 46, on April 11 following an ongoing land dispute.

The couples’ bodies have not been recovered, but blood and other evidence collected from the Reed’s truck and residence led to first-degree murder warrants being issued for the brothers.

John Reed and the couple were neighbors in the 27800 block of Whitman Road near the site of the Oso Landslide.

John Reed’s property bordered the landslide and was condemned, being bought by Snohomish County but the couple had made complaints that Reed was squatting his former house.

The couple was first reported missing on April 12 after Shunn failed to show up for work in Kirkland.

Two days later the couples vehicles were found in a remote, wooded area north of their home.

On April 17 the sheriff’s office announced they had probable cause the Reed brothers had murdered the couple and one day later detectives found vehicles driven by the brothers in Phoenix, Arizona leading authorities to believe the brothers had crossed into Mexico.

Several properties in Ellensburg were later searched, including the Reed’s parents, storage units and Tony Reed’s house.
