Carrie Wood has been named editor of the Kirkland Reporter. She replaces Jordan Lindstrom, who moved on to Bastyr University in Kenmore to work in public relations.

The appointment was made by Mike Walter, publisher of the Kirkland Reporter.

“Carrie not only brings excellent experience as a reporter, but also immense passion for community news,” Walter said. “She is a great addition to the Kirkland Reporter team.”

Wood has been reporting on Kirkland news for the Reporter for the past two weeks. She began her position as editor on Monday.

Wood comes to the Kirkland Reporter from the Bellevue Reporter, where she was a staff writer at the 42,000 circulation bi-weekly newspaper. She has covered schools, city government and everything that goes on within the city of Bellevue and its surrounding neighborhoods since 2006.

Both the Bellevue Reporter and Kirkland Reporter are owned by Sound Publishing, Inc., a division of Black Press, Ltd.

A University of Washington graduate, Wood was the recipient of the Community Journalism award during her senior year, an honor that named her the “Best News Lab Student of the Year.” Most recently, she was named an award winner for this year’s Washington Newspaper Publishers Association Better Newspaper Contest.

Wood has lived in Washington for 13 years and has an 11-year-old son, Jeremiah, and 10-year-old daughter, Veda.
