The City of Kirkland is looking for qualified candidates to be an AmeriCorps VISTA member.

VISTA volunteers help prepare the community to be disaster resilient; work on public disaster preparedness readiness projects, such as Map-Your-Neighborhood, Community Emergency Response Team, and Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES); and work a flexible 40 hour week for a one-year assignment.

VISTA members receive: A modest monthly living stipend of $1,017, health insurance, life insurance, choice of $5,350 education award or $1,500 cash stipend at the end of the term, relocation allowance if moving over 50 miles to serve.

VISTA volunteers should be 18 or older, have no outside employment, cannot have been an employee of the host organization within six months prior to the term, must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident, attend a pre-service orientation Aug. 29 through Sept. 1.

The job begins Sept. 2.
