The city of Kirkland has started the 2017-2018 biennial budget process.
The first public hearing was held Tuesday, Sept. 20 during a Kirkland City Council meeting to address revenue sources.
Financial Planning Manager Tom Mikesell presented the idea of not anticipating any increases to any non-personnel areas for both years based on the actual costs and revenues the city has for 2016. This includes a recommendation to continue some one-time service packages the city previously funded in 2015 and 2016.
Mikesell’s entire 27-minute presentation can be found on the city’s website, kirklandwa.gov.
A written staff report from Mikesell and Michael Olson, director of finance and administration, also can be found on the website.
Two additional public hearings will be held during city council meetings on Nov. 1 and Nov. 15. The meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. at city hall. The budget is scheduled to be adopted by the city council at its Dec. 13 meeting.
Those with comments or questions about the public hearings or budget are invited to email the finance and administration department at 17-18Budget@kirklandwa.gov or call 425-587-3100.
