On Tuesday, the Metropolitan King County Council unanimously approved the sale of county land to the City of Kirkland.
The 1.18-acre parcel is located in the 12500 block of Northeast 124th Street in the Totem Lake Neighborhood adjacent to the Cross Kirkland Corridor.
“We have no immediate plans to develop the property but will consider development in the future as funds allow,” Communications Program Manager Kathy Cummings said in an email.
The original price for the land was $190,000, but because remnant fill material was found on site the price was renegotiated down to $158,000, Cummings said.
“Purchase of the 1.18 acre parcel is a key strategy in improving connections to the [Totem Lake Park] and [Cross Kirkland Corridor] for pedestrians and bicyclists, with future development anticipated to include an accessible trail and wetland boardwalk system,” according to a City of Kirkland memo.
