A decomposed body was discovered in a pile of trash and brush on Thursday afternoon south of downtown Kirkland.
Kirkland Police Department Lt. Rob Saloum said it appeared the body had been there for some time and was uncovered during efforts to clean up the land used as a small homeless camp.
The body was taken by the King County Medical Examiner after Kirkland detectives conducted their own investigation. Saloum said the body was so decomposed detectives weren’t able to make any determinations of how or why the subject died.
Saloum said there wasn’t a timetable for the medical examiner’s investigation.
