The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between Oct. 20-26, there were 829 dispatched calls, including 135 traffic incidents, 30 traffic accidents, one DUI, 32 general traffic incidents, five incidents involving illegal drugs, 35 alarm calls, 14 abandoned vehicles, six burglaries, five incidents of fraud, 13 civil incidents, six cases of harassment, 16 thefts, 14 vehicle prowls, six vehicle thefts, 17 warrants served, seven noise complaints, six animal calls, four incidents of domestic violence, 11 disturbances, one sex offense, eight hit and runs and 17 incidents involving at least one arrest.
Oct. 20
Warrant: 9:26 a.m., 11200 block of NE 132nd St.; A 26-year-old man was arrested on his warrant for felony sexual assault without incident.
Theft: 11:36 a.m., 10600 block of NE 140th St.; A 31-year-old man was arrested for second-degree theft and first-degree trafficking of stolen property after a 46-year-old man reported several things missing from his home, where the younger man had been staying. A check of local pawn shops uncovered an assortment of power tools and jewelry had been stolen.
Oct. 22
Hit-and-run: 1:35 a.m., 97th Ave. and NE Juanita Drive; A black Ford Mustang driven by a 24-year-old Tulalip man collided into a vehicle as he attempted to turn on to Juanita Drive. The man then fled the scene, headed eastbound, leaving his license plate in the middle of the street. The suspect vehicle was later found, but the driver was gone. The man was later arrested for hit-and-run
Oct. 23
Domestic: 12:24 a.m., 11000 block of NE 68th St.; A 26-year-old Burien man was arrested for first-degree criminal trespass, fourth-degree assault and interfering with reporting to 911, each count carrying the domestic violence tag. The man snuck into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and assaulted her. When she attempted to call 911, he took her phone and ran away. The man was quickly located and taken into custody without incident.
Traffic: 1:52 a.m., 11300 block of 120th Ave. NE; A 20-year-old man was arrested for driving with a suspended or revoked license after being stopped for an equipment violation.
Oct. 24
Drugs: 7:16 a.m., 10000 block of NE 137th St.; An employee at the Juanita Safeway found a small plastic bag of suspected meth in the men’s restroom. The substance was taken to the Kirkland Police Department for destruction.
Warrant: 9:56 p.m., 12200 block of 94th Place NE; A 34-year-old Arlington man was arrested on his warrant for driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Oct. 25
Stolen property: 10:56 p.m., 10000 block of NE 137th St.; A stolen vehicle was located at the Juanita Safeway. The driver fled north on Juanita-Woodinville Way, then ditched the car in the 14300 block of 104th Ave. NE. A police dog successfully located a 42-year-old Bellevue man matching the description of the driver in his driveway. The man was taken into custody for possession of a stolen vehicle.
Warrant: 11:45 p.m., 14400 block of Juanita-Woodinville Way; A 30-year-old Bellingham man was arrested on his $30,000 King County felony warrant for illegal drugs and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Oct. 26
Warrant: 2:06 a.m., 14400 block of 124th Ave. NE; A 24-year-old Redmond woman was arrested on her warrant out of Redmond PD.
