Be prepared for anything! Learn how to care for your family and yourself in the event of winter storms, floods, epidemics or other natural disasters at the annual Evergreen Healthcare Emergency Preparedness Fair. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 26 in the lobby of the Silver Zone, the tallest building on the Evergreen Hospital Medical Center campus, at 12040 N.E. 128th St. in Kirkland.
Community providers and partners, including fire departments from several cities, utilities and the Red Cross will have information booths. Many booths will offer free literature about how to prepare your home, car and family for emergencies. Several booths will feature things just for children.
Seasonal flu vaccinations will be available at the Fair; $20 for the injection or $18 for FluMist. Vaccines for children will also be available. Note: Vaccine for H1N1 is not expected to be available until mid-to-late October.
Evergreen family emergency preparedness kits – which contain enough supplies to help families survive for several days – will be available for purchase. The importance of being prepared to survive at home several days without outside assistance is crucial. The snow storms of December, 2008, demonstrated how easily our homes and businesses can be isolated.
Parking is free.
