The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between Oct. 13-19, there were 832 dispatched calls, including 118 traffic incidents, 24 traffic accidents, two DUIs, 29 general traffic incidents, five incidents involving illegal drugs, 60 alarm calls, 12 abandoned vehicles, 11 burglaries, six incidents of fraud, six civil incidents, five cases of harassment, 14 thefts, 26 vehicle prowls, five vehicle thefts, six warrants served, 10 noise complaints, four animal calls, 12 incidents of domestic violence, 14 disturbances, two sex offenses, three hit and runs and 18 incidents involving at least one arrest.
Oct. 14
Drugs: 9:53 a.m., 11700 block of NE 118th St.; A 26-year-old Lynnwood man was discovered in possession of Subutex, a highly addictive narcotic, which he had smuggled into Kirkland Jail the prior day when he turned himself in. The man was then rebooked under new charges.
Assault: 12:00 p.m., 12200 block of 120th Ave. NE; A 47-year-old employee was assaulted by a 90-year-old customer at Fred Meyer. The victim did not wish to prosecute.
Trespass: 2:30 p.m., 11700 block of 98th Ave. NE; A 27-year-old Everett man was arrested for trespass and possession of burglar tools after he was seen on surveillance looking into vehicles and attempting to open vehicle doors in the Ondine at Juanita Bay apartment building’s secured parking garage.
Warrants: 11:11 p.m., 12000 block of 120th Place NE; A 26-year-old Puyallup woman was arrested in the Motel 6 parking lot on her warrant for 2nd degree animal cruelty for unnecessary suffering.
Warrants: 11:18 p.m., 11400 block of Slater Ave. NE; A 25-year-old Kent woman was contacted during a traffic stop and arrested on her warrants out of Kent PD. A small amount of heroin and meth were located in her jacket pocket.
DUI: 11:56 p.m., 10000 block of NE 110th St.; After being involved in a non-injury collision, a 47-year-old woman was arrested for DUI. The woman showed signs of intoxication, performed poorly on field sobriety tests, and provided two samples of .208 and .218.
Oct. 15
Fugitive: 6:20 a.m., 13600 block of NE 124th St.; A 50-year-old Everett man was stopped and cited for speeding and driving with a suspended or revoked license. He was then arrested for his outstanding nationwide warrant for failure to register as a sex offender in Florida.
Oct. 16
Assault: 2:30 p.m., 10200 block of 132nd St.; A 28-year-old Olalla woman grabbed a 27-year-old Seattle woman by the hair on the back of her head and shoved her forward without provocation while both women were patients at Fairfax Hospital. The victim wasn’t injured, but feared the assault would continue. The suspect was arrested for 4th degree assault.
Domestic: 8:30 p.m., 13900 block of 113th Ave. NE; A 57-year-old man was arrested for 4th degree assault, domestic violence, after holding his fiance against her will in a bear hug so tightly he caused her to have difficulty breathing. After being held for 10-15 minutes, struggling and begging to be let go, the victim bit the inside of the man’s arm to free herself. Three pistols were taken from the residence by police for safekeeping.
Warrants: 8:33 p.m., 12400 block of 116th Ave. NE; A 27-year-old Mill Creek man was arrested at the Totem Lake 76 on multiple warrants.
Oct. 17
DUI: 1:55 a.m., 12800 block of NE 124th St.; A 22-year-old Sammamish man was pulled over and exhibited signs of impairment. The man provided a BAC of .121 and .120.
