Former major of Kirkland Jim Vaux and his wife Helen celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 12. Jim Vaux was the major of Kirkland in the 1960s.

Both of them are Lake Washington High School graduates. Jim Vaux served in the Army during the Korean War and later attended the University of Washington and graduated with a degree in civil engineering. They were married in 1954. They have five children, 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and are members at Holy Family Church in Kirkland. Jim Vaux is also a member of Kirkland Kiwanis and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
