Sound Transit, the City of Kirkland, and the Washington State Department of Transportation will host a special event this Saturday to celebrate the new Totem Lake freeway station, overpass and access ramps at N.E. 128th Street.

The event, which goes from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kingsgate park-and-ride lot, is being called a “thank you” to the Totem Lake community for its patience during construction. It will include free food and beverages from local vendors and family-focused games. Artists Christine Bourdette and Vicki Scuri, who created the art featured along the new walkway on 116th Avenue N.E. and on the sides of the new access ramps, will also attend.

The completed Totem Lake Freeway Station project provides improved facilities for local and regional transit riders and high-occupancy ramps connecting to the HOV lanes on Interstate 405.

The new crossing at N.E. 128th Street provides additional capacity across I-405, connecting communities in the Totem Lake area.

The freeway station opened for buses in November and serves ST Express routes 532 and 535 and King County Metro bus routes 230, 238, 252, 255, 257, 277, 291, 644 and 935.
