The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.
Between July 7-13, the Kirkland Police Department reported 534 traffic violations (six DUIs), 17 traffic accidents, 24 noise complaints, 17 thefts, three domestic violence calls, 28 alarms, 14 motor vehicle prowls, seven burglaries, 12 disturbances, 10 cases of fraud, four harassment calls, seven malicious mischief cases, five civil issues, one assault, five car thefts and 11 animal control calls. At least 28 people were arrested.
July 12
Traffic offense: 10:36 p.m., 12700 N.E. 124th Street. A 32-year-old Bellevue man was arrested for possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended license.
July 11
Liquor violation: 3:59 p.m., 4600 108th Ave. N.E. Two 15-year-old Kirkland girls, listed as missing, were seen waiting for a bus, but ran from the scene and could not be found. A brown purse was found at the scene with a marijuana pipe and a bottle of alcohol.
July 10
Indecent exposure: 7:30 p.m., 9900 block of N.E. 124th Street. Officers responded to a report of a 40-year-old Kirkland man mooning and making threatening gestures to neighbors. The man was highly intoxicated and uncooperative with officers. The man was arrested and booked into the Kirkland Jail.
Trespass: 7:32 a.m., 12800 block of N.E. 70th Place. Two adult males and two juveniles were arrested for trespass after remaining unlawfully inside a building. None were found to have a permanent residence.
July 9
DUI: 4:53 p.m., 5800 Lake Washington Boulevard. A 49-year-old Medina man was contacted at his home after he was witnessed colliding with another vehicle on Lake Washington Boulevard and leaving the scene. Upon contact the officer noticed the strong odor of intoxicants coming from his breath. The man was arrested on scene after a positive identification from vehicle occupants. The man was also found to have a loaded gun in his car.
Minor, liquor violation: 11:29 p.m., 25 Lakeshore Plaza. A Kirkland police officer was on patrol in Marina Park when he noticed two youthful blond females standing with their skirts pulled to the ground. In only their thong underwear, the two females looked to be getting ready to urinate on the flag pole. As they spotted the police officer they ran to a parked black BMW. As the officer approached he noticed the females hurriedly moving things around on the floor of the back seat and a third female in the driver’s seat. When the females rolled the window down a powerful odor of alcohol emanated from the car. All three females are 18 years old and were arrested.
July 8
Domestic: 11:30 p.m., 10800 block of 113th Court N.E. A 28-year-old Kirkland female called a friend to say that her and her boyfriend were having a fight. The friend called police. Upon arrival the couple told police they had a disagreement and everything was fine. No evidence of injuries, confrontation was only verbal.
Assault: 10:37 a.m., 12400 block of 104th Ave. N.E. A 44-year-old Kirkland man called police after finding an older male was in his daughter’s bedroom. When the father confronted his 14-year-old daughter she became angry and left. When officers arrived they observed the girl in a group of trees across the street. When officers attempted to interview both the father and daughter the girl became uncooperative and refused to stay with officers. As officer attempted to gain control of her she struck one of them. The girl was taken into custody for third degree assault.
